IP COMMERCIALISATION, LICENSING & TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER 

Trademark Licensing

  1. Provided legal advice and services to DRB-HICOM Berhad in respect of the licensing of its registered trademarks for use in hotel and resort establishments. 
    This includes drafting and finalising the Trademark Licensing Agreement. 

2. Provided legal advice and services to the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) in respect of the licensing of its registered trademarks to third parties. 
This includes drafting and reviewing the Trademark Licensing Agreement. 

Copyright Licensing and/or Publication Licensing (Copyrighted Work) 

3. Advised Al Hijrah Media Corporation in respect of obtainment of licence from licensing body, Public Performance Malaysia (PPM) Berhad to broadcast copyrighted work through broadcasting service, simulcast the copyrighted work via broadcasting platform and reproduce the copyrighted work related to the broadcasting services. This includes reviewing of Music Copyright Licence Agreement. 

4. Provided legal advice and services to Cahaya Bintang Kecil Sdn Bhd (estate of the late Sasterawan Negara Dato’ Abdullah Hussain) in respect of licensing, publication, translation and adaptation rights of copyrighted literary works. This includes drafting and reviewing publication and licensing agreements with DBP, ITBM and Alkahfi Pictures. 

5. Provided legal advice and services to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in respect of copyright licensing and publication agreements for academic and literary works produced by UPM authors. This includes drafting and reviewing the Publication Agreements. 

Technology / Know-How Licensing 

6. Provided legal advice and services to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in respect of licensing of its technologies, patents and proprietary methods. This includes drafting, reviewing and negotiating various Technology Licensing Agreements. 

7. Provided legal advice and services to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in respect of the licensing of know-how associated with various research outputs, including agricultural, veterinary, engineering and biotechnology technologies. 
This includes preparing and reviewing Know-How Licensing Agreements and related documentation. 

8. Provided legal advice and services to Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) in respect of the licensing of multiple technologies, including Eurycoma Longifolia (Tongkat Ali), disinfectant formulations, insect repellent active ingredients, pulp technologies and nursery management systems. This includes drafting and reviewing Technology Licensing and Commercialisation Agreements. 

9. Provided legal advice and services to UPM Innovations Sdn Bhd in respect of licensing of commercial technologies (including water safety modules, sterilisation systems and specialised equipment). This includes drafting the Technology Licensing Agreements. 

Technology & Market Validation Agreements 

10. Provided legal advice and services to Protech PLT in respect of undertaking a technology and market validation study with Universiti Malaya. This includes drafting the Technology and Market Validation Agreement and Letter of Undertaking. 

11. Provided legal advice and services to V Venture PLT in respect of undertaking a technology and market validation study with Universiti Malaya. This includes drafting the Technology and Market Validation Agreement and Letter of Undertaking. 

Commercialisation Agreements 

13. Provided legal advice and services to a local research institution in respect of licensing and commercialisation of technologies related to Eurycoma longifolia (Tongkat Ali). This includes drafting the Licensing Agreement. 

11. Provided legal advice and services to V Venture PLT in respect of undertaking a technology and market validation study with Universiti Malaya. This includes drafting the Technology and Market Validation Agreement and Letter of Undertaking. 

14. Provided legal advice and services to UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd in respect of the development of its Battery Revive Unique Strategy System (BRUSS) device for car lead-acid battery type, including drafting the Contract for Development Services and Licensing Agreement. 

15. Provided legal opinion to NanoMalaysia Berhad (NMB) in respect of the interpretations of the intellectual property provisions under the agreement executed by NMB and other third party to undertake various projects including intellectual property commercialization. 

16. Advised Malaysian Agricultural Research And Development Institute (MARDI) for in respect of its intellectual property and commercialization policy. This includes reviewing MARDI Act 1969 and MARDI’s research, commercialization and intellectual property policy, manual and guidelines. 

Collaboration Agreements 

17. Advised Malaysian Agricultural Research And Development Institute (MARDI) in respect of collaboration between MARDI and BASF (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (BASF) on development of one or more new ACCase Tolerant Rice hybrids. This includes reviewing Provisia Rice Seed Development License Agreement. 

18. Provided legal advice and services to Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) in respect of collaboration with third parties for development of antimicrobial and botanical-based products. This includes drafting and reviewing Collaboration Agreements. 

19. Provided legal advice and services to a local research institution in respect of collaboration for the development and pre-commercialisation of biodegradable products. This includes drafting and reviewing Collaboration Agreements.
