Drunk Driving

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a criminal offence in Malaysia. If you have been stopped at a roadblock or charged with driving under the influence, it is crucial to seek immediate legal advice. The penalties increase significantly if the offence involves injury, death, or repeat offences.

Common Charges:

The common charge in Malaysia is Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (After Amendment), which may result in imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years AND to a fine between RM10,000 and RM30,000 AND disqualified from holding a driving license for 2 years.
