She regularly appears at all levels of the Malaysian courts and has experience managing matters from pre-action strategy through to trial, enforcement and appeal.
Throughout her career, Velary has acted in matters involving urgent interlocutory relief, shareholder and corporate disputes, fraud and asset recovery, contentious probate, insolvency proceedings, maritime disputes and employment litigation. She adopts a practical and commercially focused approach to dispute resolution, recognising that litigation is often one aspect of a client's wider commercial objectives. Her advice is directed not only at achieving favourable legal outcomes but also at protecting commercial interests, preserving assets, managing legal risk and minimising disruption to business operations.
Prior to joining Messrs. Low & Partners, Velary gained several years of in-house legal experience within a multinational corporation, where she advised management and regional stakeholders on commercial contracts, employment matters, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and cross-border legal issues. She also developed and conducted training programmes for overseas colleagues on internal corporate policies, legal compliance and governance standards, helping to promote consistency in legal risk management across regional operations. This experience continues to shape the practical and solutions-oriented advice she provides to clients.
Earlier in her career, Velary spent several years with Thomson Reuters (Sweet & Maxwell Asia), one of the world's leading providers of legal information and professional publishing. She was involved in the development of Westlaw Malaysia and contributed to the editorial review, analysis and publication of Malaysian case law and legislation, including the All Malaysia Reports and the All Malaysia Commercial Reports. She also worked closely with members of the judiciary, government agencies and legal practitioners in relation to legal research platforms and publications. This experience developed a strong foundation in legal research, statutory interpretation and precedent analysis, which continues to underpin her litigation practice and written advocacy.
