How To Administer Assets After Grant Of Probate Or Letter Of Administration Is Obtained?
Following the issuance of the Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration by the High Court, the executor or administrator shall proceed to the relevant authorities to administer the deceased’s estate. The following documents are required to be presented to the relevant authorities:-
1. Related with Bank / Investment Institutions / Stock Market
To bring along the following documents:-
• Original Marriage Certificate (if the executor/administrator is the spouse). Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the Marriage Certificate.
• One (1) Certified True Copy of the Grant of Probate or Letter of Administration issued by the High Court.
• One (1) photocopy of the Certified True Copy of the Grant of Probate or Letter of Administration issued by the High Court.
• Original Death Certificate. Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the Death Certificate.
• Original Identity Card (NRIC) of the executor/administrator. Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the executor/administrator’s NRIC.
2. To Transfer Vehicle’s Ownership at Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ)
To bring along the following documents:-
• Original Marriage Certificate (if the executor/administrator is the spouse). Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the Marriage Certificate.
• One (1) Certified True Copy of the Grant of Probate or Letter of Administration issued by the High Court.
• One (1) photocopy of the Certified True Copy of the Grant of Probate or Letter of Administration issued by the High Court.
• Original Death Certificate. Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the Death Certificate.
• Original Identity Card (NRIC) of the executor/administrator. Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the executor/administrator’s NRIC.
• Original Vehicle Ownership Certificate (Vehicle Grant). If the original is unavailable, please obtain a Certified True Copy of the Vehicle Grant from the JPJ.
• Puspakom Report.
• The executor/administrator and the beneficiary must be present at the JPJ to complete the thumbprint verification required for the transfer of vehicle’s ownership.
3. To Transfer Ownership of Immovable Properties (Example: Land, Houses, Shoplot & etc)
• Engage a lawyer to assist with the transfer of ownership and/or registration of the title deed for immovable property.
4. Related with Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP)
To bring along the following documents:-
• Original Marriage Certificate (if the executor/administrator is the spouse). Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the Marriage Certificate.
• One (1) Certified True Copy of the Grant of Probate or Letter of Administration issued by the High Court.
• One (1) photocopy of the Certified True Copy of the Grant of Probate or Letter of Administration issued by the High Court.
• Original Death Certificate. Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the Death Certificate.
• Original Identity Card (NRIC) of the executor/administrator. Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the executor/administrator’s NRIC.
*For KWSP’s member who passes away before the age of 60, KWSP provides a Death Assistance benefit of RM2,500.00, provided that the claim is submitted within six (6) months from the date of the member’s death.
5. Related with Insurance Company
• The executor/administrator is required to complete the claim form provided by the insurance company. The relevant medical section of the form must be completed and signed by the attending doctor.
• A certified true copy of the death certificate.
6. Related with Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN)
• To bring along the following documents:-
• Original Marriage Certificate (if the executor/administrator is the spouse). Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the Marriage Certificate.
• One (1) Certified True Copy of the Grant of Probate or Letter of Administration issued by the High Court.
• One (1) photocopy of the Certified True Copy of the Grant of Probate or Letter of Administration issued by the High Court.
• Original Death Certificate. Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the Death Certificate.
• Original Identity Card (NRIC) of the executor/administrator. Please also prepare one (1) photocopy of the executor/administrator’s NRIC.
